9 New Board Game Releases in 2024: Board Game Buyer Guide
Do you not have enough board games to play and look forward to newly released games? Me Too! As gamers we may only have 100+ board games on our shelves but one more won't hurt. Between announcements from publishers and distributors, there are many new board games to choose from. In addition, there's hundreds of Kickstarters of brand new games coming out this year. I did include Kickstarter games, but only reprinting campaigns. I might create another list dedicated to hyped brand new Kickstarter Games. I have listed these newly released games by their release dates in order of earliest to latest.
9. Slay The Spire: The Board Game (July)
Just Released this month, Slay The Spire: The Board Game is a cooperative deck-building adventure for 1-4 players, based on the popular video game. Players choose from iconic characters, each with unique abilities and starting decks, to navigate procedurally generated levels filled with enemies, treasures, and events. The game emphasizes strategic combat, deck management, and cooperative play, requiring players to work together to overcome challenges. Featuring diverse character classes, powerful relics, and high replayability, Slay the Spire: The Board Game offers a dynamic and engaging experience for fans and newcomers alike.
8. Star Wars Deckbuilding Clone Wars (August)
War has erupted with the discovery of droid factories on Geonosis and the sudden deployment of the Clone Army, sparking the Clone Wars. The countless droid legions of the Separatist Alliance present a formidable challenge to the Jedi, defenders of the Galactic Republic. As the fate of the Republic hangs in the balance, the galaxy watches anxiously. In the Clone Wars Edition of Star Wars™: The Deckbuilding Game, this epic conflict unfolds on your tabletop. Players choose sides, either the Republic or the Separatists, and build their decks to destroy each other's bases. The first to eliminate three enemy bases wins. This standalone game can also be combined with the original edition, offering easy-to-learn yet strategically rich gameplay. Iconic locations like Kamino's clone facilities and Geonosis' droid factories provide powerful abilities, bringing the Galactic Republic and Separatist Confederacy's struggle to life.
7. Survive: The Island (September)
Survive: The Island is a reprint of Escape: Survive From Atlantis which has been out of print for several years. This edition adds a new monster with different abilities and also adds a 5th player to the game play. Survive is a ruthless game where players strive to evacuate their pieces from a disintegrating island, aiming to maximize their score by keeping track of their highest-valued pieces. The island, composed of 40 hex-tiles, gradually sinks into the ocean as tiles are removed from the board. Each player controls ten people, valued from 1 to 6, and must move them toward the safety of surrounding islands before the main island explodes. Players can swim or use boats to travel, but they must evade sea serpents, whales, and sharks on their journey to safety. I can't wait to play since I really enjoy ruthless and combative games...my wife not so much. Lol
6. Clank! Legacy 2 (October)
The first Clank! Legacy still remains my all-time favorite game so I am a little bias because I think everyone should buy this game. Clank! Legacy: Acquisitions Incorporated enhances the deck-building excitement of Clank! with legacy-style gameplay. Establish your own franchise of the renowned adventuring company Acquisitions Incorporated and guide your novice treasure hunters to everlasting corporate fame over multiple games. As you play, your game board, deck, and world evolve, creating a unique campaign for your adventuring party.
5. Star Wars Unlimited: Twilight Of The Republic (November)
Another absolute gem of a game, Star Wars Unlimited! Twilight of The Republic is the third set of Trading Cards for the very popular game. Every time a new set comes out, they sell out very very quickly. Star Wars: Unlimited is a fast-paced and dynamic game that is easy to learn yet offers strategic depth. It showcases iconic heroes, villains, ships, and settings from across the entire Star Wars franchise, including movies, TV series, comics, video games, and more. I highly recommend purchasing this TCG. Elevated Board Games is planning to have several copies for our customers.
4. Lord Of The Rings Duel For Middle-Earth (December)
In The Lord of the Rings: Duel for Middle-earth, players choose sides in an epic battle. One player controls the Fellowship of the Ring, aiming to destroy the One Ring and prevent the Enemy's advance, while the other player plays as Sauron, sending Nazgûls after Sam and Frodo and spreading their forces across enemy cities. This game is a spin-off of 7 Wonders Duel, featuring a showdown between Sauron's evil forces and the free peoples of Middle-earth.
3. Quacks Of Quedlinburg: The Duel (December)
Quacks of Quedlinburg base game is one of the best family games ever! The mechanics of Quacks is nothing like other games and will make everyone laugh. Lucky for us Quacks Lovers, the publisher is creating a 2 player edition that I am sure all will enjoy. At the core of the game, two charismatic quack doctors vie for attention, drawing crowds with their most captivating exaggerations and flair. The game demands intense focus from both players, as each move can impact the opponent directly. Your goal is to attract undecided patients to your market stall, as every patient you treat enhances your reputation in the Quacks' Guild Hall. Quacks Duel has already been released in many countries, we are now waiting in the USA.
2. Barrage Legendary Box Kickstarter (Q1 2025)

1. Stockpile Kickstarter Reprint (Q1 2025)
Recently, the Publisher has confirmed that a Stockpile Kickstarter will be available sometime in the beginning of next year 2025. I know thats about 6 months away, but we are so excited about it we wanted to make sure everyone was aware. Stockpile is an engaging economic board game where players act as late 20th-century investors aiming to build wealth through strategic stock trading. The game combines traditional buy-low, sell-high tactics with unique mechanics like insider information and stockpiles—card piles with hidden and visible elements. Players bid on these stockpiles, using insider knowledge to make timely decisions. Strategic choices about buying, selling, holding, and managing risks and liquidity are crucial. Success depends on navigating market shifts and executing your strategy effectively.
Final Thoughts
So many incredible board games are being delivered this year! Personally I can't wait for the third set of Star Wars Unlimited so I can improve my existing card decks. I am also happy that publishers are reprinting some popular board games that people didn't have access to unless they wanted to pay a premium for them. Which board games are you excited for in 2024?
