By Blaze Aldrich | August 13, 2024

Top 11 Board Games For 5 Or More Players in 2024 Okay! You plan on having a ton of people over to play a board game and you notice most board games only play up to four players. Don't worry, I got you! There are many awesome board games that play 5 or more players and a lot of them anyone can pick up and learn. My favorite Party games are those that allow you to bluff and attack your opponents but all in good fun of course... I do have some of those games in this list, but others on this list will always have your friends leaving the night with laughter and joy. Speaking of laughter and joy, only the winner gets that with that first board game on our list. I have listed these games based on player count, from least to most.

9. Libertalia 1st Edition (6 Players)

In Libertalia, your mission is to outmaneuver rival pirates through three challenging rounds, each one testing your strategic wit and timing. As you play, you'll use cards that represent the same crew members as your fellow pirates, making every decision crucial. These competitors are not only targeting the same treasure-laden ships but are also employing the same ruthless scoundrels as you, creating an intense battle of wits. Success hinges on your ability to deploy your crew's unique abilities at just the right moment. Can you seize the advantage and outsmart your opponents, or will a more cunning pirate outshine you? It's time to dive into the treacherous waters and prove that you have the tactical brilliance to rise to the top! In my opinion, the ideal player count is 6 because it makes your decisions so much more difficult and meaningful.

6. Dixit (6 Players)

In Dixit, many rounds are played where one player takes on the role of the storyteller and selects a card from their hand. They then provide a clue to the other players, which could be a word, phrase, song, or any other hint that relates to their chosen card. The other players each pick a card from their own hands that they believe best fits the storyteller's clue. The storyteller's card is then shuffled together with the cards chosen by the other players and revealed simultaneously. Each player then secretly votes to determine which card they think belongs to the storyteller. The game proceeds with the scoring phase, where points are awarded based on how well players can guess the storyteller's card and how effectively they can deceive others with their own chosen cards.

5. Just One (7 Players)

Just One is a cooperative party game where players work together to guess as many mystery words as possible by providing clues. The game is played over 13 rounds, with each round involving a new mystery word card. The objective is to achieve a score as close to 13 as possible. During each round, the active player receives a mystery word and the other players must give unique clues to help them guess it. However, if two or more players give identical clues, those clues are discarded, adding a layer of strategy and creativity to the game. Players earn 1 point for each correct guess. If the guess is incorrect, they lose the current card and the top card of the deck, resulting in a 2-point penalty. If no one provides an answer, only the current card is lost, resulting in a 1-point penalty. The game challenges players to be inventive with their clues while working together to achieve the highest possible score.

4. Decrypto (8 Players)

In Decrypto, players split into two teams, each working to decipher coded messages from their teammates while also figuring out the codes from the opposing team. Each team has a screen where they place four cards, numbered 1-4, with each card displaying a unique word that only their teammates can see. In the first round, one team member draws a code card with a sequence of three numbers (e.g., 3-1-4) and provides a clue related to their team's words (e.g., "blue-sky-moon" for the words "ocean," "cloud," "star," and "sun") to help their teammates guess the code. Correct guesses avoid penalties, but incorrect guesses result in a black mark of failure. From the second round onward, the opposing team tries to decipher the clue given for the numbered code. If they guess correctly, they earn a white mark of success; otherwise, the original team must attempt to guess the code to prevent a black mark. The game continues until a team earns their second white mark (winning the game) or their second black mark (losing the game). If neither team has won after eight rounds, both teams try to guess each other’s words, and the team with the most correct guesses emerges as the winner.

Those remaining claim loot cards, including money, diamonds, and paintings. After eight rounds, the player with the most diamonds and valuable stash wins the game.

2. Camel Up (8 Players)

In Camel Up, up to eight players engage in an exhilarating race to predict which of five camels will secure the top two positions in a rapid race around a pyramid. Players place their bets on which camels will finish first and second, with the potential for greater rewards if their predictions are accurate. The camels’ movements are anything but predictable; they can end up on top of one another, with a camel that lands on top being carried forward toward the finish line by the one below it. The excitement intensifies as players must wait to see the outcome of the race, which is determined by dice rolled from the pyramid-shaped shaker. Each roll of the die, released one at a time when players take a break from betting, reveals which camel will move next, adding a layer of suspense and strategy as players adjust their bets based on the dice results and the camels' unpredictable behavior.
