If you are anything like me, you are curious about which board game is being the sold most of. This is a good indicator of the board games that are trending and may be another great add to your collection. If you been following our blogs, you will notice some of the same games. It's not by happenstance that some board games keep showing up on top of this list. I would recommend playing all of these games and if you enjoy them, come on back to buy them.
7. Battlestar Galactica
Battlestar Galactica: The Board Game is a very popular out of print board game so anytime we have copies they sell very fast. The game is a semi-cooperative experience of mistrust, intrigue, and survival, based on the popular Sci-Fi Channel series. Players take on roles from the show, each with unique abilities, as they work together to fend off Cylon threats and overcome crises aboard the Galactica. However, hidden Cylons work secretly to sabotage their efforts. As the game progresses, more Cylons may be revealed, increasing the tension. Players must manage resources like food, fuel, morale, and population while dealing with ongoing crises. If humanity reaches Earth, they win, but if the Cylons successfully bring down Galactica, humanity loses. The game is for 3-6 players, ages 10 and up, and lasts 2-3 hours.
6. Rurik Dawn of Kiev
Rurik: Dawn of Kiev is another out of print board game that was released during a Kickstarter Campaign. Luckily the publisher is planning to start another Kickstarter campaign by the end of 2025. This game is a euro-style realm-building game set in 11th-century Eastern Europe, blending area control, resource management, and a unique "auction programming" mechanic. Players take on the role of potential successors to Vladimir the Great after his death in 1015, competing to prove themselves as worthy leaders by building, taxing, battling, and achieving notable deeds. The goal is to win the people’s favor and secure the throne of Kievan Rus. Designed by Russian game creator Stanislav Kordonskiy with art by Ukrainian artist Yaroslav Radeckyi, Rurik introduces an engaging bidding system where advisors’ strength influences both the timing and impact of player actions, creating strategic tension throughout the game.
5. Darwin's Journey
In Darwin's Journey, a worker-placement Eurogame, players relive Charles Darwin's memories of his Galapagos expedition, which inspired his theory of evolution. Using an innovative worker progression system, players must study various disciplines to perform actions like exploration, gathering specimens, and sending discoveries to museums. The game spans five rounds, where each action offers opportunities to earn victory points through a mix of short- and long-term goals.
4. Knarr
In the game Knarr you lead a band of Vikings exploring new territories. To succeed, you must strategically recruit crew members and choose the best destinations for trade or influence, which will boost your reputation and wealth. Each turn, you either add a Viking to your crew, activating the effects of all crew members with matching icons and selecting a new one from the central board, or explore new destinations, gaining opportunities to trade and further increase your resources and reputation. This board game was sold out everywhere for a while but it's now back in stock.
3. Heat: Heavy Rain
Heat: Heavy Rain is an amazing expansion for the huge hit Heat: Pedal to the Metal. Heavy Rain was finally reprinted and provides many different mechanics. This expansion adds a new orange driver, allowing up to seven racers, along with two new maps (Japan and Mexico). It introduces new upgrade cards featuring the purple drop, a unique cooldown mechanism that lets players return a heat card from their discard pile to their engine. Additionally, submerged track sections require spending extra heat when downshifting. The expansion also includes more heat, stress, championship, sponsorship, and event cards for an enhanced racing experience.
2. Two Rooms And A Boom
For the last several months in a row, Two Rooms and A Boom was our #1 seller until now. Two Rooms and a Boom is a social deduction party game where players are divided into two teams, the Red Team and the Blue Team, split across two rooms. The Blue Team has a President, while the Red Team has a Bomber. Over several timed rounds, players try to identify key roles through negotiation and information sharing. At the end of each round, hostages are exchanged between rooms. The goal for the Blue Team is to keep the President safe, while the Red Team aims to place the Bomber in the same room as the President when the game ends. Deception and strategic communication are crucial as players work to achieve their team's objective.
1. Heat: Pedal To The Metal
Heat: Pedal to the Metal since its release has been one of the most sought after games and again it's sold out in many places. Usually it's the 2nd most sold game on these types of lists, but it surged after the lack of supply. Heat: Pedal to the Metal puts players in the driver’s seat of high-speed car races, where they must carefully manage their hand to balance speed and avoid overheating. Choosing the right upgrades helps navigate curves and keep the engine cool, but ultimately, it’s the player’s driving skills that determine the winner. Drivers can engage in a single race or use the "Championship System" to play a full season, customizing their car before each race while adapting to changing weather, road conditions, and events. The game also offers a solo mode with the Legends Module or allows automated drivers to be added in multiplayer games.
